Latest Pickup: South Park x adidas Campus 80s Towelie
Last year, adidas caused a stir in the sneaker game with a special collaboration. Together with the hit series South Park, the company from Herzogenaurach released a total of seven releases that all embodied different South Park characters.
From this collection, one very special style has made it to the top of the popularity scale - the South Park x adidas Campus 80s Towelie.
This shoe was sold out time and time again at numerous retailers and in the adidas online shop. Fans of the Towelie have been asking for more restocks and have been heard. The shoe will be getting a big restock tomorrow, 06.10.2022 via CONFIRMED.
We were lucky enough to get the "Towelie" in front of our lens already.
Who or what is Towelie
Not every sneaker fan is also a South Park fan, so first it's worth clarifying why the hype around this particular adidas Campus is so big in the first place.
Towelie is a drug-addicted towel with a face, arms and legs. When Towelie is high, his eyes turn red. The stoned towel appears again and again in various South Park episodes and has accordingly gained popularity among viewers over the years.
With this in mind, adidas collaborated with South Park to create a special release, bringing the character's key attributes to the adidas Campus. First released for the 4/20 "celebration" on 20 April 2021, the shoe was very difficult for fans to buy for a long time as it was limited and in high demand at the same time.
Perfect transfer to the adidas Campus 80s
Having the idea is one thing, but transferring a popular character to a shoe is another story. With this Campus in particular, however, adidas has done everything right and perfectly transferred the essential features of Towelie to the shoe. In addition to the character itself, the excellent execution is probably the decisive factor for the success of the release.
Let's start with the upper materials. This adidas Campus 80s is made of Towelie's signature terry in purple and the three stripes in white leather. A special highlight are the big eyes on the tongue. Because when the sun shines, the eyes magically turn red and bloodshot.
Other highlights of the shoe include the hidden pockets under the tongues. These are perfect for carrying "little things" hidden away.
In addition, two phrases are printed on the tongues: "I have no idea what's going on" and "Don't forget to bring a towel". Both phrases are virtually the trademarks of Towelie.
As a little gimmick, two tags have also been added to the special South Park x adidas shoe box, which show the cartoon towel and also contain the two sayings on the backs.
So all in all, the shoe is an excellent and loving tribute to the South Park character.
Restock of the South Park x adidas Campus 80s Towelie
The shoe will be released tomorrow, 06.10.2022 in the CONFIRMED App by adidas. As the shoe is in high demand, it will be raffled off via the Raffle System.
