adidas Celebrates Stan Smith's 1972 Wimbledon Victory with This Stan Smith "Stanniversary"
Stan Smith won the Wimbledon Championship on June 6th, 1972, and although this was the famous tennis star's only victory, adidas is honouring his triumph with a special sneaker. The adidas Stan Smith "Stanniversary" will be unveiled shortly after the 50th anniversary of the event. It’s a sneaker reminiscent of the tennis shoes Stan wore during his success.
It comes in the vintage colour combination "Off White/Cream White/Cloud White" and evokes the feeling of a retro model. A contrasting red then adorns the tongues made of synthetic material, which is not common on the adidas Stan Smith.
Right next to it are heel tabs made of suede and Trefoil logos, which also come in the same hue. Various details, both traditional and new, have been added to make the adidas Stan Smith "Stanniversary" pair stand out even more. Lastly, adidas rounds off the sneaker with a lettering on the inside of the sneaker. It reads "JUN, 06, 1972".
The adidas Stan Smith "Stanniversary" to Drop Soon
The sneaker is due to be released in just a few days. The release date has not been set yet, but the adidas Stan Smith "Stanniversary" is said to drop on July 19th.
