Thanks to good research and observation, the brand is calculating its every move and ensuring that the hype and legacy of the GOAT remains.

"We don't want to release these OG colours randomly," says Donald Kelsey, Jordan Brand Product Director, Global Retro Line. "They have to be tied to MJ's story in some way. Our team makes it a point to connect the dots when these OG models or colourways are released. Die-hard fans can see that we care about preserving history, while new fans are invited to satisfy their curiosity and explore the reasons behind the timing. Why now? Why this shoe? Then, the answers come naturally. We never launch a retro shoe in isolation."

Kicking things off is the Air Jordan 12 Retro "Playoff" in its OG colourway, which made its debut in Cleveland during the All-Star Weekend in 1997.
