ASSASSIN Sneaker of Homer Simpson Comes to Life

Homer Simpson's ASSASSIN sneaker has finally come to life! Originally seen under Ned Flanders' feet in the season two episode of The Simpsons, the ASSASSIN is an all-purpose sneaker. The standout feature of the original was the innovative pump bubble on the tongue - an obvious borrowing from Reebok's Pump technology - with a personalised nameplate on the heel. The all-encompassing silhouette harkens back to Nike's Air Trainer SC worn by Bo Jackson, while the chunky Velcro fastenings add their own contemporary touch.

The RETRO Clothing brand offers a variation of the ASSASSIN, with a few minor changes from the original. Instead of the name tag, Homer's name is embroidered on the heel in classic Simpsons script, an inverted Swoosh (the original features the Nike Swoosh logo) is located on the ankle and the tongue has been embellished with RETRO in a Varsity font. At the time of the episode, the retail price for the ASSASSIN was $125, which would be about $205 today adjusted for inflation. The current price for this version is $180 (€167.95). The shoes can be pre-ordered now from Retro Clothing, until April 25th.
