Ouch! Nike Air Yeezy "Grammy" Sample Loses $1.6 Million at Auction

Now that hurts! The Nike Air Yeezy "Grammy" Sample was recently bought by the Rares platform at Sotheby's for a record price of 1.8 million dollars. This made it the most expensive sneaker in the world - until now. Because now Rares has auctioned the shoe again and lost a whopping 1.6 million dollars. A bitter loss that will certainly not only cause long faces among those responsible.

At Goldin Auctions, the rare pair was offered in August for 50,000 US dollars and sold last night for 180,106 US dollars, which equates to a hefty difference of 1,619,894 US dollars. This Size-12 Nike Air Yeezy "Grammy" Sample was made exclusively for Kanye West in 2008 and worn by him at the 50th annual Grammy Music Awards. The silhouette, which West designed with sneaker veteran Mark Smith, features a striking black colour scheme and bright outsole. The set also includes a custom wooden box with laser-cut artwork by Smith.
