To mark the 40th anniversary of the Air Jordan line, Jordan Brand is celebrating itself – and doing so in colour. The Air Jordan 40 "Bordeaux" is not only a new silhouette, but also a tribute to the long design roots of the Jumpman universe. The colour choice is anything but random: the bold wine red has been familiar since the legendary Air Jordan 7 "Bordeaux" from 1992. In the new silhouette, however, the tone does not appear retro, but rather like a modern reinterpretation.

40 years of design history in one colour
The upper is wrapped in a rich, textured burgundy. High-quality textured leather meets nubuck and velvety suede elements – all kept monochrome to let the materials speak for themselves. Accents in Burgundy Crush and University Red enhance the depth effect, while a peach-coloured hit in the medial area provides a subtle contrast.

Design: Bordeaux instead of show effect
Minimal branding, maximum presence: the Air Jordan 40 does away with large logos – the Nike Air branding is hidden under a semi-transparent element on the heel. Reflective details like those on the AJ13, a tongue label inspired by the AJ5 and an outsole pattern with AJ12 references combine the brand's design history in a single shoe.

Technology & comfort: Top-tier performance
The Air Jordan 40 comes with a full ZoomX midsole setup that was not only developed for top athletes, but also pays off in everyday use. Comfort is at competition level here: the cushioning is soft, responsive and ensures a stable, smooth transition from heel to toe.
The multi-layered construction does not appear overloaded, but finely tuned. Despite its performance genetics, the model feels surprisingly wearable – on and off the court. The minimalist silhouette appears ‘put together’, as many would describe it – no fashion peacocking.

Why the "Bordeaux" is already special
While other Jordan models revel in the retro world, the Air Jordan 40 opens a new chapter. The "Bordeaux" is not loud or hype-driven, but a true collector's item for people who value design, heritage and material quality. The model shows how to infuse a strong design with brand DNA without appearing arbitrary.

Release & Price
The Air Jordan 40 "Bordeaux" is now available online at Nike. The price is €200, which is fair for a high-performance model with ZoomX technology, premium materials and heritage-inspired construction.
A trainer for everyone who loves Jordan not only for its retro feel, but also for what the brand has stood for over the past 40 years: innovation, history and top-notch design quality. The AJ40 "Bordeaux" delivers exactly that – and looks damn good doing it. Best of all, the trainer is true to size. So if you order your normal size, you can be sure of a perfect fit – without compromising on comfort.
