With the “Dusted Pastels” pack, New Balance is launching two new ‘Made in UK’ 991v2 colourways that are perfect for summer. The “Sea Grass” and “Mahogany Rose” remain true to the 991v2’s signature style: high-quality materials, superior cushioning and that unique blend of running heritage and modern comfort. Only this time, they come in much softer, seasonal colours.

The 991v2 is one of those models that New Balance is currently nailing. The silhouette looks familiar, but thanks to the more modern sole and technical details, it feels fresher than many older “Made in UK“ runners.

The “Dusted Pastels” pack is all about colour, but without being too loud. New Balance has opted for dusty, muted pastel shades that have a summery feel yet remain easy to style.

That’s exactly what makes both pairs so exciting. They add a splash of colour without compromising the premium feel of the 991v2.

The 991v2 “Sea Grass” leans towards a light, greenish hue, giving it an instantly refreshing feel. The upper combines coloured mesh with light suede overlays in a soft sage shade. This is complemented by subtle grey details on the collar, laces and eyestay, which tie the look together neatly.

The silver “N“ logo adds that signature New Balance touch without being too overpowering. At the bottom, the slightly distressed cream midsole provides that vintage feel, which works really well with lighter colourways. This means the trainer doesn’t look too clean, but rather a bit warmer and more relaxed.

The “Mahogany Rose” takes a different colour direction, featuring a pale shade of pink that varies slightly depending on the material. Suede and mesh take on the colour slightly differently, giving the upper more depth despite its monochrome design.

Grey accents on the “N“ logo, the laces and the heel area provide a clean contrast to the rose hue. Added to this is a two-tone midsole in white and cream, which lends the shoe a sense of calm and prevents it from looking too playful. It is precisely this balance that makes the colourway so strong. It is soft and summery, yet still robust enough for a Made in UK 991v2.

A nice touch: both pairs come not only with the standard grey laces, but also with colour-coordinated spare laces. On the “Sea Grass”, the extra laces echo the light green hue of the upper, whilst the “Mahogany Rose” comes with laces in a matching rosé shade.

This allows you to emphasise the look a little more in line with the respective colourway. With the grey laces, both pairs retain a more understated and classic look, whilst the coloured laces make the pastel vibe much more prominent.

Of course, the 991v2 isn’t just about colour. The combination of FuelCell foam, an ENCAP midsole and semi-transparent ABZORB SBS pods delivers exactly the level of comfort you’d expect from this silhouette.

The shoe feels softer and more modern than many classic “Made in the UK“ models, yet remains sturdy enough for everyday wear. The v2 version in particular offers this advantage: it looks like something straight out of the archives, but feels much more contemporary.

Added to this are premium pig suede, mesh and synthetic overlays, which give the shoe its high-quality look. Reflective details, the embossed “N“ logo and the embroidered “v2“ branding on the tongue round the whole look off.

The “Sea Grass“ is the more understated choice. Light, airy, clean and perfect for summer, without looking too much like a seasonal trend. The “Mahogany Rose“ adds a touch more warmth and feels a bit more special thanks to its soft pink hue.

Both colourways demonstrate quite well why the 991v2 is such a hit at the moment. The fit is spot on, the comfort is just right, and the colours add enough variety without overloading the shoe.
