Peter Moore passed away over the weekend. His creations are known all over the world, as he was the inventor of the legendary Air Jordan 1 and the creator of the Jumpman logo.

For many sneakerheads and Jordan fans, the creative mind has long been considered a pioneer in the industry. Today, his sneakers in particular are synonymous with hip lifestyle shoes and sports culture. In his career, the former adidas employee was Nike's first Global Creative Director.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Peter Moore, an iconic designer whose legacy will forever be associated with Jordan Brand and the footwear culture he helped create," said Howard White, Vice President of Jordan Brand.

"The adidas family is deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend Peter Moore. Our hearts go out to Peter's family, friends, and all who knew him," adidas wrote in a statement. "Peter was a true legend and icon in our industry, and it is impossible to overstate the impact he had on adidas. We will miss him greatly, and his legacy will live on forever."

The Air Jordan 1 is the most coveted silhouette in the sneaker game. Some models fetch astronomical prices on reseller markets like StockX, showing that the silhouette has always been highly coveted since its debut in 1985.
