According to insiders, one of the most influential sneaker releases in history returns in 2024. At the absolute height of the Foamposite craze, Nike shifted gears by introducing a graphic on the moulded upper. Although some unreleased samples were in circulation, Nike stayed true to the monochromatic colourways for the Foamposite One and Foamposite Pro. Adding images of outer space and "Remove Before Lift-off" hangtags, the "Galaxy" Foams set off mass hysteria across the country as malls and retailers were flooded with hordes of sneakerheads desperate for a pair. This volatile day in sneaker history contributed to Nike switching the sneaker release experience to digital only and ending the sneaker campout in the near future.
The release of the Galaxy Foamposite Retro perfectly coincides with Nike's ongoing attempts to revive the once popular shoe. By 2015, flooding the market with releases and questionable colour choices led to the collapse of the once mighty design. It wasn't until 2019 that Nike released an update with the Foamposite "Big Bang", which was essentially the same as the original, but with updated imagery of interstellar views. As Nike continues to reissue old classics, there's hope for reissues of more smashers.
