Converse's Brand New Basketball Shoe: "Converse All Star BB Evo"
Last year, Converse returned to competitive basketball with the All Star Pro BB. Now, it has come up with the second version: The "Converse All Star BB Evo", which is a further development of its big brother.
"The Converse All Star BB Evo has a low center of gravity. That means I'm in control every moment," says Kelly Oubre, Jr.
Specifically, the ASBB Evo helps keep players on their forefoot, positioning them for nimble moves and creative reactions to make more room on the court.
Oubre Jr., Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Natasha Cloud, along with other basketball players from around the world, provided feedback to ensure that on-court control can be combined with a healthy dose of design.
"Athletes are devoting more time than ever to self-expression on and off the court," said Richard Ward, Converse Design Director of Footwear. "We wanted to build the outer material in such a way that a distinctive split would allow for a more expressive and daring outfit. This also allowed us to meet a power requirement through locking and stability".
The shoe has some familiar details from its predecessor. A remarkable is the iconic Star Chevron logo, which is presented here in a somewhat blurred way, alluding to movement and speed.
Key Facts About the Converse All Star BB Evo:
HEIGHT. The ASBB Evo has a height of 5/8 to increase the flexibility of the player. The zonal padding around the ankle offers optimal protection.
UPPER. The 50/50 split material of the upper highlights a sophisticated, raised mesh on the medial side for breathability and a textured, closed diamond textile on the material for stability and support.
LACING. The ASBB Evo's splint-tip system provides strong and adaptable containment of the forefoot.
CUSHIONING. A Nike React midsole provides a flat, responsive cushioning.
TRACTION. With a diamond lug pattern and thin outsole, the All Star BB Evo maximizes court feel.
