Ja Morant's Signature Sneaker as a Tribute to his Legendary Words

Stories of courageous athletes and sporting success always have their place in the world of sport. One such story is that of Ja Morant, a young basketball player for the Memphis Grizzlies. In his third year in the league, as his team prepared for a playoff game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Morant responded to Patrick Beverly's previous trash talk with the legendary words, "We ain't ducking no smoke. We run up the chimney." These words are now the inspiration for the latest version of Morant's signature Nike sneaker, the Nike Ja 1 "Smoke".

A Zoom unit gives the Nike Ja 1 "Smoke" a dynamic silhouette and a mesh upper almost completely swallows up a deep black hue. Only the yellow and grey lugs and logos on the insole break up the look. A grey marbling distinguishes the Swooshes, reflecting the misty surroundings, while the Yes lettering is placed on the side of the almost white heel. In addition, the sole has been finished with a cream-coloured coating under the foot. Unfortunately, no release date has been set yet, but the sneaker will reportedly be launched as early as 6 October.
