Jordan Zion 1 "Gen Zion" - The First Signature Sneaker by Zion Williamson
After months of anticipation and speculation, Jordan Brand has finally officially unveiled Zion Williamson's first signature sneaker, and the first news is immediately recognisable. The sneakers will not be bearing the previously assumed name "Jordan Z Code" but will now actually be called "Jordan Zion 1".
But what really makes this sneaker special? The Jordan Zion 1 has a mid-top construction and is, in fact, a tool for every basketball player on the court to help them bring out their maximum performance. The shoes feature a full-length Air Strobel unit and a Zoom Air cushioning unit in the midsole for added protection.
In addition, the soles are significantly higher for perfect lateral movement, and the collar gets the ultimate in resilience with a thick foam for a comfortable feel.
Among the first colourways is this black and white Jordan Zion 1 "Gen Zion". A black layer is meant to represent a "Z", and gold hits on the tongue and toe box further enhance the model.
"We knew that one of Zion's main inspirations for the look of the shoe was superhero armour. But when we thought about an icon or symbol that could clearly showcase the shoe's assets, the "Z" made perfect sense to us," says Vianney de Montgolfier, Senior Footwear Designer of Jordan Sport. "It's the letter for speed, it has the base for power, and it's perhaps the most distinguishable letter in the alphabet. There's nothing like it."
When You Can Shop the Jordan Zion 1 "Gen Zion"
Nike has already announced a release date for the Jordan Zion 1 "Gen Zion". You can shop the first limited edition sneaker at Nike on April 23rd, as well as a range of apparel. Additional colourways have also been revealed. The "ZNA" will be released on May 5th, followed by the "Noah" on May 19th, and the "Marion" on May 26th.
