Kanye West's Iconic Maison Margiela Mask from the 2013 Yeezus Tour on Sale on Grailed

During the tour in 2013, Ye worked with the Maison Margiela team to design several unique masks that the artist would wear during his performances. The masks later became iconic pieces of the era. The project was led by Matthieu Blazy, the current creative director of Bottega Veneta, who was working as head designer at MM at the time.

Now you can call one of those masks your own, as one of the Maison Margiela masks from Ye's Yeezus Tour 2013 has been listed on Grailed for $50,000 USD. The mask is studded with black stones and is listed under Maison Margiela Number 1, a women's collection in which the house expresses its love for conceptual and avant-garde design.

Despite the striking exterior, Margiela claims that it is easy to see through the mask, as the black silk chiffon is embroidered in a way that allows wearers to see through the fabric. In an interview with Vogue, the house further revealed the process behind the collaboration with the artist.

That's why Ye wore the mask

According to Ye, he wore the masks to allow the audience to focus on the art without having to feel self-conscious about his face.

"I'm not worried about saving face. Fuck my face! Fuck what my face means and what the name Kanye is supposed to mean, it's about my dreams! And it's about other people's dreams. It's about creating. It's not about the idea of being a celebrity, it's not about the idea of being a black man doing fashion and s**t," he once said at a concert.
