New Balance Comes to the Metaverse

Another brand has entered the metaverse. The new member is the sports goods manufacturer New Balance from Boston. Trademark attorney Josh Gerben has now made the announcement on Twitter. All further details on New Balance and Metaverse can be found here.

On January 13th, New Balance registered three trademarks that allow its products to be used in the Metaverse. The first trademark registration allows New Balance products, specifically footwear, apparel, and various sports equipment and accessories, to be used in online virtual worlds.

The second brand allows the use of said items at online retail shops, while the last brand allows the use of the items in virtual environments for entertainment purposes.

Presumably, this step has already been seen coming. Other labels such as adidas and Nike have also entered the Metaverse, with adidas already releasing an initial project with Bored Ape Yacht Club, Gmoney, and Punks Comic.

"Welcome to the Metaverse, New Balance!"

As of yet, New Balance hasn't announced any specific plans, but fans are already anticipating NFTs and other virtual events. We'll keep an eye on this, of course, and notify you when new info comes in.
