New Balance pays tribute to Japanese textile craftsmanship with the "Boro Pack" collection

New Balance has paid tribute to Japanese textile craftsmanship with the latest "Boro Pack" collection, consisting of the 550 and 580 silhouettes. The "boro" technique, which has been used by farmers since the 1850s, was used to repair clothing and keep warm in winter. Several layers of patched cotton or hemp were laid on top of each other, with the material being recycled again and again due to its commercial value at the time.

Each shoe in the collection features a variety of materials, including soft suede, shaggy suede, pre-aged suede, denim, woven canvas and, on the 550 model, cracked leather. The traditional look of the Boro technique is emphasized by the incorporation of different shades and textures of indigo and the visible white yarn. The new 550 and 580 models are due to be launched in November, but it is not yet known where they will be available and at what price.
