Nike Air Max Pre-Day: '70s Aesthetic Meets Innovative Cushioning

Nike's Air Max cushioning has been a technological advancement and revolutionised the sports world ever since. The Beaverton-based brand calls its own cushioning "the embodiment of the Nike design philosophy". From the debut of the visible Air unit in the Air Max 1 in 1987, to the first full-length Air unit in the Air Max 97 in 1997, to the Air VaporMax in 2017, Nike backs up this statement with every new sneaker.

In 2021, Nike turned over a new leaf when it unveiled the Nike Air Max Pre-Day — a new silhouette that revolves around pared down and circular design principles. With a Steve Prefontaine-inspired name and the start of a new Air Max era, the Nike Air Max Pre-Day combines '70s style with innovative Air Max cushioning.

The sneakers feature upgraded materials from the current decade, mixing a finely woven mesh with ripstop and suede, with the midsole completely gutted and filled with Air Max cushioning. This has significantly reduced the weight and made the silhouette more voluminous.

The First Colourway of the Nike Air Max Pre-Day

The first colourway of the Nike Air Max Pre-Day is very striking. "Volt"-like hits, "Seafoam", and black alternate on the upper, highlighting each element. Nike has also announced that the next colourways will be "washed out Nike running colourways from the '70s".

When the Nike Air Max Pre-Day Will Be Released

Check out the current best images of the Nike Air Max Pre-Day here and expect a drop on March 26th at Nike SNKRS and selected retailers. No price has been mentioned yet, but we're assuming a retail price of around 130€.
