PUMA and Chess Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen Enter into Partnership

PUMA has a new family member since February 21st, 2022. The Norwegian chess grandmaster Magnus Carlsen, as well as the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour and the sporting goods manufacturer from Germany, have entered into a long-term partnership. Together, they are creating a link between the world of chess and the field of competitive sports.

"We often think that sports is physical, but you also need mental strength," says PUMA CEO Bjørn Gulden. "Few people embody this spirit like Magnus, who is widely regarded as the best chess player of all time. We are proud that he has become part of the PUMA family."

Magnus Carlsen has been no stranger to the game for some time. In 2013, Magnus won his first World Chess Championship at just 13 years old and was named the youngest grandmaster of his time. Then, a year later, he was ranked the highest-rated player in history.

"Being part of a great company like PUMA and working with so many people I personally admire is special for me. As a chess player, I am a big fan of the sport, and that makes this partnership even better," says Magnus Carlsen.

PUMA Immerses Itself in the World of Chess

With Magnus Carlsen and the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour, PUMA wants to bring us closer to the sport of chess. We strongly suspect that the first collections featuring the 31-year-old pro will be dropped soon. So, stay tuned and don't miss the possible drops with us.
