With the Adistar Control 5, adidas Originals is bringing back a true performance classic. The model was originally developed for overpronators and is known as a stable long-distance shoe. Now it is experiencing a rebirth as a lifestyle sneaker with retro charm.

The design remains close to the original: an open mesh upper ensures breathability, while silver accents and synthetic 3-stripes revive the typical 2000s look. 360-degree reflectors make the shoe visible even in the dark.

The sole has proven itself: AdiPRENE®+ in the forefoot, EVA midsole, 3D TORSION® SYSTEM and Foremotion technology offer stability, comfort and dynamism. The AdiWEAR rubber outsole ensures durability and grip.

With this revival, adidas is tapping into the current hype surrounding 2000s runners, which is dominated by models such as the ASICS GEL-Kayano and New Balance 2002R. While other brands are currently all the rage, adidas is showing with this collection that its own archives also offer really strong alternatives.

The sneaker will be released on Monday, 1 December 2025, for €110.
