The Air Jordan 3 ‘Seoul 2.0’ continues the story of one of Jordan Brand's most important collaborations. The original ‘Seoul’ was released back in 2018 to celebrate the 1988 Summer Olympics in the South Korean capital. Now, seven years later, the sequel follows - this time with a deeper look at Korean culture and emotions. Visually, much remains familiar: a white leather upper, the iconic elephant print and the classic ‘Nike Air’ branding on the heel.
But it's the new details that make this model something special. The South Korean flag is once again emblazoned on the tongue of the left shoe, while the Korean word ‘꿈’ (Gguem - ‘dream’) is embroidered on the inside of the right tongue. The midsole comes in an aged look with a light yellow colour, which gives the retro look even more depth. The collar lining has also been reworked and its textile structure is reminiscent of traditional Korean garments. The red and blue accents are representative of the colours of the South Korean flag.
There was already a limited pre-release event on Kasina (in Korea) and Sesinko (in NYC) on 10 May, which was aimed exclusively at Korean community members - an emotional gesture with great cultural significance. Now the worldwide release on SNKRS and at selected retailers is imminent.
