With the Air Jordan 4 ‘Comic’, Jordan Brand is transforming a lesser-known piece of Michael Jordan’s history into an eye-catching trainer. The inspiration appears to be MJ’s 1985 ‘Dunk’ comic-style T-shirt, which featured Jordan performing a dunk surrounded by colourful graphics in a classic comic-book style.

The base of the trainer is made from cream-coloured leather, which really brings out the more eye-catching details. A mix of yellow, orange, pink and purple runs beneath the transparent mesh inserts on the sides and on the tongue. Black wings and black heel tabs provide contrast whilst maintaining the classic look of the Air Jordan 4.

The comic-book theme is particularly evident on the upper lace wings. Here, pink, jagged shapes replace the usual elements.
