Michael Jordan won his first NBA championship in the Air Jordan 6 in 1991. For the model’s 35th anniversary, Jordan Brand is looking beyond that achievement to highlight the evolution of Tinker Hatfield’s original design. The “Metamorphosis” name therefore reflects both the altered low-top profile and the wider journey of the Jumpman.
Matte black panels establish the dark foundation of the upper. Glossy Desert Berry overlays shift between pink, mauve and violet depending on the light. The iridescent treatment continues on the lace lock, while Metallic Silver highlights the signature heel spoiler and sections of the midsole.
Several defining elements of the Air Jordan 6 remain intact despite the contemporary finish. These include the lace pocket, toggle system, Italian sports car-inspired TPU heel pull and visible Air cushioning. A black foam midsole sits above a tinted, partially translucent rubber outsole to complete the design.
