TLDR: The Drake's x New Balance Allerdale combines British country charm with urban elegance, is handmade in England and ideal for both city and nature. It will be available from 27 June for €270. New Balance is opening a new chapter in its ‘Made in the UK’ series with renowned London menswear retailer Drake's. The result of this stylish collaboration is the Allerdale, a hybrid of a classic hiking shoe and an urban statement sneaker.
It was manufactured in Flimby, New Balance's traditional location in Cumbria, and pays homage to Britain's outdoor culture – from the hills of the Lake District to the streets of London. In terms of materials, the model is a real highlight: high-quality dark green pig suede meets vegetable-tanned leather on the toe and upper, and grained leather on the mudguard and heel. The tongue, made of Japanese ripstop nylon, not only gives the shoe a technical look, but also ensures durability.
The sneaker's functionality is impressive, with a FuelCell-cushioned cup sole for comfortable energy transfer and an Ortholite™ insert with Drake's branding for maximum comfort. Outdoor-inspired D-ring lacing systems and three pairs of paracord laces stylishly round off the design – a clear reference to hiking boots, but with an elegant twist.
In addition to the shoe, Drake's is also launching an exclusive capsule collection consisting of British-inspired classics such as a waxed games blazer, utility vests, hiking shorts and even knitted ties.
