With the fragment design x Nike Mind 001 ‘Black’, Nike’s futuristic Mind line gets a clean, collaborative update. Hiroshi Fujiwara stays true to his minimalist style, giving the mule silhouette a consistently minimalist look.

The colourway is entirely black, which particularly highlights the sculptural form of the Mind 001. Small but deliberate accents in Fragment’s signature blue create contrast – particularly on the characteristic spherical nodes beneath the sole.

There are also adjustments to the upper: instead of the usual dimpled texture, a reinforced textile overlay is used here, featuring the Fragment Lightning logo on the forefoot. Additionally, subtle “Fragment Concept Testing” prints run along the midsole, underlining the experimental approach.

Technically, everything remains true to the tried-and-tested concept of the Mind series. The 22 pressure points (nodes) in the sole are designed to apply targeted pressure to specific areas of the foot – with the aim of improving recovery and the sense of movement.

As part of a larger capsule collection alongside the Mind 002, this release shows the direction in which Nike’s innovative footwear is currently heading: more experimentation, more concept, more focus on new technologies.
