JFG x New Balance Abzorb 1890 "Persian Purple"

Joe Freshgoods and New Balance are continuing their successful partnership, delivering their twelfth joint collaboration with the 1890 pack. This time, the focus is on the new New Balance 1890 silhouette – a hybrid model that combines the upper of the 890v3 with the distinctive 2002 sole.

The two colourways, “Finger Waves” and “Naughty Things”, are heavily inspired by the music video culture of the late 90s and early 2000s. In particular, the influence of Hype Williams and legendary rap videos from that era runs through the entire design concept. Bold orange, yellow and purple tones meet glossy black overlays, creating an extremely eye-catching Y2K look.

The packaging also plays the nostalgia card to perfection. The trainers come in special boxes with a steel-plate finish and a round viewing window – a direct nod to the famous fisheye camera effects from classic hip-hop videos.

Like many previous Joe Freshgoods releases, this project combines personal memories, music, streetwear and sneaker culture in a way that hardly any other collaboration currently achieves so consistently.
