TLDR: The McDonald’s x Nike Book 2 “Sedona” combines basketball, Arizona storytelling and fast-food nostalgia in a surprisingly strong collaboration release. Inspired by the famous turquoise McDonald’s arches in Sedona, Devin Booker delivers one of the most creative Book 2 colourways to date – releasing on 2 June for €160. Devin Booker continues to use his signature line to tell very personal stories – and that’s exactly what makes the McDonald’s x Nike Book 2 “Sedona” so special. Instead of the classic red-and-yellow fast-food aesthetic, the sneaker takes its cue from the famous McDonald’s branch in Sedona, Arizona, which is the only one in the world to feature turquoise-blue arches instead of gold ones.
The upper combines light sand and earth tones with cracked textures that are reminiscent of Arizona’s rocky landscapes. Added to this are bold turquoise accents on the Swoosh, lining, outsole and McDonald’s branding, which establish the link to the legendary Sedona Arches. The blend of desert vibes and sporty basketball aesthetics is particularly striking.
In addition to the standard retail pair, a completely blue Friends & Family version will also be released, though this will be available exclusively via a competition on the McDonald’s app. To enter, fans must purchase special drinks between 22 and 28 May and take part in MyMcDonald’s Rewards.
The story behind the release is also a perfect fit for Booker: from former McDonald’s All-American to NBA star, the sneaker combines basketball culture with Arizona roots and modern sneaker aesthetics.
