TLDR: The New Balance 1890P is set to launch in the ‘Fairweather Blue’ and ‘Team Red’ colourways with a significantly more substantial update. Reinforced overlays, more leather and an almost armour-like forefoot design give this hybrid runner extra character. It’s due to be released on 19 August 2026 for €170. With the 1890P, New Balance is taking the still-young 1890 series a step further. The silhouette continues to combine elements of the 890v3 with the archived 2002 model, but thanks to the new “Plated” construction, it appears more stable, heavier and significantly more robust than the original version.
The biggest change is in the forefoot area. Thicker lateral overlays wrap around the upper like a protective frame, giving the trainer an almost armour-like look. At the heel, higher-quality leather replaces the previously thinner synthetic material on the teardrop-shaped panel.
Two eye-catching colourways are launching. “Fairweather Blue” features cooler shades of blue, whilst “Team Red” uses a warmer red base. Both models remain largely tonal and are accented in the reinforced forefoot area with various shades of purple.
