TLDR: With the New Balance 1954R, the brand is introducing a completely new silhouette that combines design elements from the 1906 and 2002 series with a modern ABZORB sole. The trainer will initially be available in three colourways, including “Sea Salt/Linen”, and is set to be released on 1 July 2026 for €190. New Balance is expanding its ever-growing portfolio with the brand-new 1954R. Following on from successful models such as the 1906, 2000 and 1890, the brand is once again drawing on a blend of 2000s running DNA and modern lifestyle elements.
Visually, the new silhouette takes its cue from well-known New Balance classics. The upper combines high-quality suede with breathable mesh and incorporates design elements from the 1906 and 2002 models. On the sides, the distinctive N-Lock logo provides additional stability and a technical look, whilst the TPU heel counter with its grid design is reminiscent of the 1906A.
Underfoot, New Balance has opted for a segmented ABZORB midsole, which effectively absorbs shocks whilst offering a high level of comfort for everyday wear. The design is complemented by a running-inspired tongue label with embroidered 1954R branding, lending the new silhouette a classic heritage touch.
The New Balance 1954R is launching in three different colourways: “Sea Salt/Linen”, “Slate Grey/Castlerock” and “Triple Black”. New Balance thus offers both neutral and classic colour options to suit different styles.
