TLDR: The New Balance 2010 ‘Sea Moss’ shows that the new generation of ABZORB is becoming significantly bolder. Dark earth tones meet bold green accents, resulting in a futuristic tech runner with a strong streetwear vibe. It releases on 12 May for €170. New Balance continues to work on establishing the next big lifestyle silhouette – and the new 2010 is currently one of the most exciting contenders for the role. Whilst models such as the 1906R or 9060 have long been established classics, the 2010 takes a more modern, experimental direction with visible ABZORB technology and a more aggressive shape.
The new “Sea Moss” colourway is one of the more eye-catching versions of the silhouette. The combination of black, grey and olive green elements creates a significantly more expressive look than many classic New Balance releases. The green accents in particular give the trainer almost a slight Action Bronson vibe.
Technically, the 2010 remains true to its futuristic DNA. The striking ABZORB elements in the midsole are clearly the focal point and give the shoe that typical Y2K techwear character that New Balance is currently pushing hard. At the same time, despite its eye-catching construction, the trainer remains surprisingly suitable for everyday wear.
