With the 991v2, New Balance is continuing its premium line from the Made in UK programme in 2026. The ‘Forged Iron’ colourway is reminiscent of legendary collab vibes from years past, but remains clearly anchored in the Elevated Essentials context. The result: a darker, more sophisticated twist on the classic NB grey.

The upper combines mesh with high-quality pig suede and synthetic overlays. The dominant Forged Iron tone covers the overlays, while lighter grey shades provide balance. Reflective details and the embossed ‘N’ logo with line details subtly round off the design. In the heel area, semi-transparent ABZORB SBS pods in ‘Smoked Pearl’ add a slightly oxidised accent.

Technically, the 991v2 is state-of-the-art: a full-length FuelCell midsole provides noticeable propulsion, while ENCAP cushioning guarantees stability and durability. The model combines classic 99X DNA with contemporary performance – visually clean, but with clear substance.
