With the Air Force 1 Low ‘Patent Denim’, Nike brings together two materials that, at first glance, could hardly be more contrasting. Instead of using classic denim and patent leather separately, the gloss is applied directly to the fabric. This means the typical denim texture remains visible, whilst the surface takes on an almost mirror-like finish.

The entire upper comes in ‘Coastal Blue’ and features deliberately uneven shading around the heel and side panels. It is precisely this that ensures the trainer doesn’t look like a standard patent leather AF1. The toe box, eyestays, quarter panels, Swooshes and heel are fully integrated into the material concept.

Flaxen-coloured contrast stitching adds warmth to the blue colourway and also features on the tongue labels, mini Swooshes, insoles and the Nike Air branding on the heel. This is complemented by blue laces, silver AF1 dubraes and subtle white stripes in the heel area.

The look is rounded off by a translucent ‘Natural’ sole with a slightly yellowed finish. This aged effect fits perfectly with the denim theme and gives the shoe a slightly vintage-inspired character, despite its glossy surface.
