With the “Mad 90 Pack”, Nike translates four of its most recognisable football boots onto the Air Max 90. The collection draws from the Hypervenom, 2002 Mercurial Vapor, Total 90 Laser and 2005 Tiempo. The “Tiempo” represents an era when football was defined by creativity, rhythm and the pure enjoyment of playing the game.
The upper combines several different black leather finishes. Diamond-quilted panels directly reference the padded forefoot of the original Tiempo, whilst cracked and deliberately distressed leather gives the trainer a rebellious edge. A smooth overlay around the toe provides a calmer contrast within the detailed construction.
A white Swoosh breaks up the dark upper, whilst Voltage Green details around the collar, midsole and visible Air unit introduce energetic flashes of colour. The lining and distinctive stitching also borrow from the 2005 football boot. Its accompanying Tiempo apparel capsule extends the concept by combining football culture with influences from the Chinese punk-rock scene.
