TLDR: Nike pays homage to the Air Max Plus ‘Voltage Purple’ from 1998 with the Air Max DN8 ‘Fierce Purple’. The combination of purple colour gradient, black accents and bright total orange in the sole is reminiscent of the legendary Tuned Air design. The sneaker will be available from 8 May for €190 at Nike and selected retailers. Nike continues its successful Air Max DN8 series with another self-referential design. Following the ‘Black/Volt’ colourway, which is reminiscent of the Air Max 95 ‘Neon’, the Swoosh now presents a version that is directly inspired by the colourway of the Air Max Plus ‘Voltage Purple’.
The upper features a soft colour gradient from deep purple to black, while the wavy overlays are reminiscent of the shadows of palm trees - an iconic design feature of the original Air Max Plus. Silver accents and black lacing round off the look. The total orange colour in the Dynamic Air sole is particularly striking and is reminiscent of the classic Tuned Air element of the Tn models.
