With the Blazy, Nike demonstrates just how far you can rework a classic without completely losing its core essence. The new silhouette is clearly based on the Blazer Low, but looks significantly more relaxed, experimental and almost as though the shoe has been worn for years.

The most striking detail is the heel, which is pulled down sharply. The look is reminiscent of extreme heel drag and gives the trainer its characteristic, slightly sagging shape. Despite its appearance, the footbed construction inside is said to remain standard, so the shoe doesn’t feel as unusual to wear as it looks.

The upper is largely made of canvas and features a completely new panel structure. Nike has dispensed with the classic applied Swoosh. Instead, curved contrasting stitching forms the outline of an oversized logo that tapers off at the heel. The toe box is also wider than on the traditional Blazer, which should make the fit a little more relaxed.
