The Nike Ja 4 “Nightmare” introduces the first major colourway of Ja Morant’s fourth signature basketball trainer. Its name refers to the moment Morant launches towards the basket and becomes a nightmare for defenders. Dark Obsidian and black create the appropriate foundation, while bright Voltage Green adds a toxic-looking contrast.
The lightweight foam and mesh upper gains a three-dimensional surface through textured haptic overlays. Raised triangles, an abstract “JA” graphic and differently positioned Swooshes give the silhouette its aggressive identity. The green gradient extends towards the JA-Frame and outsole, while metallic and multicoloured details provide additional highlights.
One of the model’s most important additions is the TPU JA-Frame. This lateral structure wraps around the midfoot to provide containment during sharp cuts and rapid changes of direction. Underfoot, Nike combines a Cushlon 3.0 midsole with a responsive SPRPWR sockliner. The setup is designed around Morant’s explosive playing style while cushioning take-offs and landings.
The rubber outsole features a Ja logo-inspired traction pattern made up of multidirectional triangles. Personal touches include his former number 12 and motivational messages placed across the outsole and frame. The Ja 4 has a close, snug fit.
When will the Nike Ja 4 “Nightmare” be released?
Following its US debut, the Nike Ja 4 “Nightmare” will arrive in Germany and other European countries on 10 September 2026. The price is set at 130€.
