TLDR: The Nike Kobe 11 Elite Protro ‘Fade To Black’ returns to mark the 10th anniversary of Kobe’s final game. Black Flyknit, gold detailing and performance upgrades make it an emotional tribute. Releasing on 13 April 2026 for €190. For Mamba Day 2026, Nike is bringing back one of the most emotional Kobe releases: the Kobe 11 Elite Protro “Fade To Black”. The trainer commemorates Kobe’s legendary final NBA game on 13 April 2016, in which he made history by scoring 60 points.
Visually, the reissue stays true to the original. An all-black Flyknit upper provides the signature stealthy look, whilst metallic gold details add subtle accents. Particularly significant to the story: the date “4.13.16” on the heel, which directly references his final appearance. Further small details, such as embroidered lines representing his Achilles recovery or special logos, celebrate his entire career.
Technically, the shoe has of course also been upgraded. Instead of Lunarlon, a modern ReactX drop-in midsole is now used, combined with an Air Zoom element in the heel. This ensures significantly better cushioning and makes the trainer absolutely court-ready even today.
The “Fade To Black” is therefore not just a performance shoe, but above all an emotional tribute to one of the greatest players of all time.
