With the Mind 002 Flyknit, Nike is expanding its acclaimed Mind series with a new material construction. After the first Mind 001 and Mind 002 releases sold out in no time, the first mainline version with a Flyknit upper now follows — inspired by early ISPA designs and most recently seen in Hiroshi Fujiwara’s Fragment Design collaboration.

Visually, the trainer remains futuristic, yet significantly cleaner than many other experimental models from Nike. The Flyknit upper combines White, Pure Platinum, Wolf Grey and Dark Grey to create a technical layered look with plenty of texture and depth. Barely Volt details shimmer through the knit material, whilst the striking outsole nodes perfectly emphasise the futuristic vibe of the Mind series.

The story behind the shoe is particularly fascinating: according to Nike, the Flyknit upper was originally developed during the ISPA phase and was only later combined with the Mind-002 sole. As a result, the trainer combines sustainable ISPA design principles with progressive Mind technology.

Technically, too, the shoe remains exceptional. The segmented midsole with its movable outsole nodes provides flexible cushioning and an almost experimental level of comfort. Added to this is a functional lacing system with a toggle fastening and the characteristic sculptural shape of the Mind range.
