TLDR: The Nike Pegasus Premium SP combines futuristic running DNA with an almost avant-garde design. New mudguard overlays, striking black-and-white colour blocking and the familiar premium cushioning make the SP version the most eye-catching Pegasus Premium yet – releasing on 1 June for €210. Nike is further developing the Pegasus Premium and taking a much more experimental approach to the silhouette with the new SP version. Whilst the standard model already had a futuristic feel, the SP edition leans even more heavily into technical outdoor and fashion vibes.
The most striking detail is the additional mudguard, which wraps protectively around the upper and gives the trainer a much more rugged look. As a result, the silhouette is almost reminiscent of trail or roam models, yet remains clearly designed for road running from a technical perspective.
The colour blocking also catches the eye immediately: Nike plays with extreme black-and-white contrasts, where the upper and midsole appear almost exactly split in two. It is precisely this minimalist yet aggressive look that is strongly reminiscent of earlier Comme des Garçons x Nike collaborations – although this is not an official partner release.
Underfoot, the familiar Pegasus Premium technology remains. The distinctive Air midsole continues to provide maximum comfort and a futuristic shape that perfectly complements the experimental upper.
The Pegasus Premium SP demonstrates quite clearly just how strongly Nike Running is currently leaning towards fashion and techwear.
