Product description
TLDR: Nike launches the V5 RNR, a new, affordable running silhouette that picks up on the current retro runner trend. Inspired by the 2000s, the sneaker combines breathable mesh with synthetic leather overlays and a lightweight foam midsole. The V5 RNR will go on sale on 18 February 2025 for €85 and will be available in various colourways.
☒
In times of rising prices and changing consumer habits, Nike has opted for an affordable yet stylish model with the V5 RNR. While high-end sneakers and expensive collaborations are no longer automatically sold out, affordable silhouettes from brands such as ASICS and New Balance currently dominate. The V5 RNR is now in direct competition with models such as the New Balance 530 or the ASICS GEL-1130.
The design of the V5 RNR is based entirely on the Y2K trend and is reminiscent of classic performance runners from the early 2000s. The breathable mesh upper is reinforced with synthetic leather overlays, while a lightweight foam midsole ensures optimum comfort. Metallic details and a 3D Swoosh logo give the shoe a modern touch, while the rubber outsole with deep grooves is reminiscent of iconic designs from the 2000s.
Three colourways have been confirmed so far: ‘White Malachite’, ‘Parachute Beige Metallic Pewter’ and ‘Black Anthracite’. The first two rely on silver overlays for a classic tech-runner look, while the all-black version brings a sleeker, stealthy vibe.
