Pharrell and adidas are breaking new ground with the Vario “Flat Earther”. Instead of chunky shapes and eye-catching designs, this trainer goes for the exact opposite: extremely flat, minimalist and close to the ground.

The silhouette is inspired by the adidas Yoga Vario from the 2000s and picks up on the current trend for minimalist, almost ‘barefoot’-style trainers. The result is a super-sleek look that sits somewhere between a sock and a classic trainer.

The upper features clean leather combined with perforated details for enhanced breathability. Instead of traditional laces, there’s a practical Velcro fastening that lends the shoe an additional futuristic touch. The Three Stripes run diagonally across the shoe, slightly reminiscent of older football or taekwondo models.

The most striking feature, however, remains the extremely thin sole, which perfectly reflects the “Flat Earther” concept: maximum ground contact and a natural feel. This makes the trainer less of a performance tool and more of a lifestyle piece for minimalist outfits.
