To celebrate Pokémon’s 30th anniversary, adidas has created character-inspired versions of several archival silhouettes. Mewtwo receives multiple models, including the Handball Spezial. Rather than covering the trainer in large character graphics, this edition takes a more restrained approach by translating the Pokémon’s recognisable colours and physical features into the construction.
The upper combines pale grey and pink shades with glossy leather and synthetic overlays in mauve. Contrasting finishes add depth to the largely tonal design, while the Three Stripes and Mewtwo lettering are incorporated along the sides. Pink laces and a metallic Poké Ball charm provide a clear reference to the collaboration.
The most distinctive element appears at the heel. A long curved loop recalls the tube-like connection extending from the back of Mewtwo’s head, transforming its silhouette into a functional detail. Underfoot, the slightly translucent rubber sole gradually shifts from a very light blush to a stronger shade of pink. Gold-coloured insoles decorated with Mewtwo artwork, Pokémon branding and the Trefoil complete the anniversary release.
