South Park x adidas NMD R1 Kenny

adidas is currently experiencing a surge in crazy colourways and collabs. Of course, the revived adidas Forum silhouettes that have received more and more attention over the course of the year immediately come to mind. The label from Herzogenaurach has been digging into its huge archive lately and has also pulled out numerous other classics.

Together with famous names like The Simpsons or Jeremy Scott, many silhouettes have then been given a modern look and sometimes even eclipsed coveted models like the Ultra Boost. Now, adidas is turning its attention back to an already familiar partner with South Park, announcing a whole new range of sneakers as a continuation of the Towelie.

So far, four sneakers have already been announced as part of the collection, which will represent the main characters of the series. Stan Marsh gets the adidas Stan Smith, Kyle Broflovski the adidas Superstar, Kenny McCormick the NMD R1, and the adidas Forum Low going to the legendary Eric Cartman. All shoes are inspired by the outfits of the four best friends.

The South Park x adidas NMD R1 Kenny mainly uses orange hues on the entire upper, which seems only logical in light of Kenny's outfit. Only the fur-like lining and the laces are dyed brown, alluding to his gloves and the inside of his jacket. The most striking changes to the NMD R1, however, are probably the various prints on the upper, which reflect Kenny's recurring injuries and ultimately, his death.

The front of the sneaker has a long fake surgical stitching that runs from the toe to the laces. A typical NMD R1 panel on the outside gets a black "OMGTKK" lettering, which is supposed to stand for "Oh my God, they killed Kenny!" The rear element again features the drawing of an open wound. There are also black cracks all over the midsole, alluding to Kenny's fractures and bruises. Red blood pools on the upper, which also represents his very regular demise.

The South Park x adidas Campus '80s Towelie was already in high demand at the time of release and was sold out extremely quickly. The same is likely to happen with the rest of the sneakers in the collection. Unfortunately, no official release date has been confirmed yet, but we will definitely keep you updated.
