TLDR: The Wagyu x Nike Air Max 90 connects Harlem streetwear culture with motifs inspired by premium Japanese beef. A black mixed-material upper, marbled Swoosh and special certificate of authenticity define the collaboration. The trainer will be released on 12 September 2026 for 150€.
New York streetwear label Wagyu is releasing its first official trainer with Nike. Founded in Harlem by Walter Harvin, the brand aims to encourage individuality while creating accessible streetwear built around inclusivity and community. Tinker Hatfield’s Air Max 90 provides the foundation for the project.
Rather than translating its culinary inspiration through a loud colour palette, Wagyu keeps the upper predominantly black and anthracite. Smooth and perforated leather is combined with long-haired suede across the quarter panels. Thick Sail rope laces break up the dark construction and add another premium-looking texture.
Most of the Wagyu references appear in the smaller details. The brown and gold Swoosh features a marbled pattern resembling the distinctive fat distribution found in Wagyu beef. Wagyu lettering replaces the usual branding inside the mudguard window, while the label’s cow-head logo appears on the heel. Patterned insoles continue the concept inside the trainer.
Each pair also includes a certificate of authenticity modelled after the grading documents supplied with Japanese Wagyu. A matching Nike Tech collection transfers the cow-head branding and certification theme to jackets, hoodies and trousers. Underneath the upgraded materials, the familiar Air Max 90 construction retains its visible heel Air cushioning.
