The Brand-New Air Zoom G.T. Cut 2 Is Introduced

The Greater Than (G.T.) series was introduced in 2021 as the latest test bed for Nike Basketball. We reported on it. The goal was to develop shoes for the next generation of basketball players by using every possible tool in Nike's arsenal to create the most advanced shoes on the market.

The redesigned Air Zoom G.T. Cut 2 is designed for players who create and close spaces with lightning speed to keep defenders off balance.
At the heart of the shoe is an all-new advanced traction design. It consists of a rubber compound arranged in an intense wiper blade pattern with deep tread grooves. As the player applies force with each step, the grooves separate and snap back on release, helping the player dig into the ground. A second zone of nubbed traction extends across the forefoot.
"The G.T. series is completely disconnected from traditional thought patterns," says Klein. "The traction pattern is one of the elements that was developed on a micro level by the NSRL after studying the relationship between the pitch and the shoe. Teams were able to push forward with a new innovation that provides the right amount of friction on the court for athletes to cut faster, turn quicker, and adjust their footwork with greater precision."
Other new features of the Air Zoom G.T. Cut 2 include a refined heel shape for a more secure fit, a hollowed out midsole to reduce the rubber content and overall weight of the shoe, and a Zoom Air unit in the heel that has been added based on player feedback. The shoe features a full-length Zoom Air strobel and React foam insole.

The Air Zoom G.T. Cut 2 will be released in the Bred colourway on September 16th for Nike members and on September 20th in North America. The Sabrina Ionescu colourway will be released on October 13th at Nike.com and via Nike app.
