What You Need to Know About Devin Booker's Nike Book 1

Nike Basketball has just released some exciting news! Devin Booker, one of the NBA's most talented and hard-working players, has just received his first signature shoe, the Nike Book 1. A three-time All-Star at just 26 years old, Booker has finally cemented his place among the league's elite. His game is all about the basics, inspired by the greatest players of all time. And like his play on the court, the design of his shoes is classic and original, yet optimised for optimum performance.

It's a collaboration between Nike and the basketball player, who provided his design team with some silhouettes of classic Nike sneakers like the Air Force 1, the Blazer and the AJ1 as a starting point. But that's not all! The design was also inspired by one of Booker's own restored cars, a '72 Chevy Blazer K5, affectionately known as "Uncle Larry". The car's original patina has been preserved so that it looks like a classic car from the outside, while inside there is a modern, powerful engine. It's the perfect blend of old and new, just like the Nike Book 1 itself.

"We came across the term "Future Classic" early on" says Booker. "At the beginning of the design process, we came up with the idea that the shoe would combine the worlds of lifestyle and performance. The goal was to create something that would be timeless."

The Nike Book 1 is the latest and greatest from the sports giant, designed specifically for athletes who need a combination of stability, cushioning and responsiveness. And believe me, they have. Drawing on the experiences of basketball legends like Booker and young players from around the world, the Nike design team created a Cushlon 2.0 foam midsole and TPU sidewall to support your feet while you move. But that's not all. They also included a Nike Zoom Airbag in the heel for even more cushioning. The canvas and twill upper is inspired by the working world for durability. But don't worry, comfort isn't neglected either. The suede collar and genuine leather forefoot give you a soft, broken-in feel that you won't want to take off. And to top it all off, the pull tab on the heel is modelled on the spine of a book, with numbers that refer to the chapters of an ongoing story. How cool is that? Nike confirms the first two colourways of the Nike Book 1 for spring 2024.
