Why the Air Jordan 1 Low OG "Doernbecher" Stands for Courage and Determination

The Air Jordan 1 Low OG "Doernbecher" by Nike is the perfect example of the company's commitment to a better world. It is part of the Doernbecher Freestyle programme, a collaboration between Nike and Doernbecher Children's Hospital at Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU). Through this great partnership, each year six Doernbecher patients at OHSU are given the opportunity to work with Nike volunteer designers to create their own Air Jordan 1 shoes, which benefit the hospital in the form of donations from the auctioned collections. The campaign gives these brave young people something inspiring to focus on and has raised nearly $31 million for the hospital since its launch in 2004!

The Air Jordan 1 Low OG "Doernbecher" is much more than just a shoe — it is an expression of the art of the extraordinary and courageous design partner Riddhi Mahajan. As part of a nine-month creative journey, Riddhi works with a team of volunteer Nike designers to bring her unique vision and story to life. During this time, they review their questionnaires and incorporate their feedback into the design. The result is a beautiful collection with colours and materials that are truly hers. After a celebratory unveiling on an equally celebratory auction night, the Air Jordan 1 Low OG "Doernbecher" stands as a testament to Riddhi's courage and determination to never give up. The sneaker will reportedly drop on March 1st via Nike SNKRS and at selected retailers.
