Bjørn Gulden Does not Believe that Kanye Meant it That Way

The CEO of adidas, Bjørn Gulden, recently defended Kanye West despite the artist's past hateful and anti-Semitic comments, which led to the termination of the partnership. Gulden praised West as one of the most creative people in the world during an appearance on the "In Good Company" podcast. The CEO specifically praised West for his contribution to music and street culture, highlighting his undeniable talent. Although adidas has strongly condemned West's harmful views, Gulden's recent comments suggest that the brand still harbours a degree of admiration for the controversial artist.

"It's very unfortunate because I don't think he meant it and I don't think he's a bad person. It just came across that way and that meant we lost that business, one of the most successful collaborations in history," Gulden said.

adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden highlighted the successes of the adidas Yeezy line, stressing that the anti-Semitic statements Kanye West made last year were not what the artist meant to say. It is also worth noting that Gulden was officially appointed adidas CEO in November 2022, after the company's split with Ye.
