First Look at the Nike KD16 "Aunt Pearl"

Nike confirms the release of the KD 16 "Aunt Pearl" for the upcoming season! Furthermore, the sports brand gives us a little taste of what to expect. Currently, a drop on 27 October is assumed.

JD Sports UK has sent us some great photos of the Nike KD 16 "Aunt Pearl", which is set to launch on 14 October. Whether this is an alternative or official version is still unclear. The KD 16 "Aunt Pearl" is a tribute to Kevin Durant's late aunt, who died of lung cancer. The shoes are not only stylish, but also support a good cause, as the proceeds go to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

Kevin Durant lost his beloved aunt to cancer in 2000 and has honoured her several times in the past with special colourways on his own basketball shoes. The first sneaker with an "Aunt Pearl" special edition was the KD4 back then and even today we can still look forward to a current variant every time, with it now being the Nike KD16's turn.

This time, too, we get a range of different shades of pink adorning the sneaker. Individual white accents contrast on the upper, while a bright "hot pink" can be found on the TPU plate and the heels. The inner soles will most likely show off meaningful references to KD's aunt again, while of course a special packaging may not be missing.

Apart from the design, the KD16 also offers many features that make it a perfect performance sneaker. These include, for example, the mesh upper for better breathability, leather overlays for longer durability and a sole with Zoom for maximum cushioning. 

First photos of the Nike KD16 "Aunt Pearl" have already surfaced and it is expected to be released in October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month for a price of 160€. We will keep you up to date!
