Nike ends Adapt line and withdraws Adapt app

Nike has announced the end of its Adapt line, including the discontinuation of the Nike Adapt app that supported its innovative self-lacing sneakers. The Adapt BB, which launched in 2019, was the first basketball shoe to feature this technology and allowed users to customise the fit via a smartphone app. The Adapt app will be removed from the Apple and Android app stores worldwide on 6 August 2024.

The Adapt line began with the Nike MAG and was later expanded with the HyperAdapt 1.0 in 2016, resulting in various power lacing sneakers. Despite the cancellation of the app, Nike assures users that their Adapt shoes will continue to function without the app. Manual functions such as switching the shoes on and off, checking the battery status and adjusting the fit will remain.

The Nike Adapt app will be discontinued on 6 August 2024. It will be removed from the Apple and Android app stores on this date.

Nike Adapt shoes are currently available at select retailers and on Nike.com. However, no new versions will be produced after this announcement.
