With the Longridge SPZL, adidas is launching a new hybrid silhouette heavily inspired by 80s running models. Rather than simply copying an archive model, the designers have deliberately incorporated various vintage elements to create something unique.

The upper consists of a mix of leather, suede and textile, drawing on design ideas from lesser-known models such as the adidas Madison. Particularly striking is the suede overlay in the toe box area, which extends into the eyestay – a detail that lends the trainer structure and depth.

In terms of colour, the Longridge SPZL remains deliberately understated. ‘Wonder Silver’, ‘Halo Green’ and black accents create a clean, slightly technical look that’s easy to style. It is precisely this minimalist approach that sets it apart from earlier, more eye-catching SPZL runners.
