With the Mendocino SPZL, adidas is expanding its SPZL range with a silhouette heavily inspired by vintage models, yet modernised with clever details. The base is a classic low-profile trainer in the style of old adidas California models, which deliberately stays true to the original.

The upper is crafted from high-quality suede in a warm ‘Blanch Brown’ shade, creating a clean, timeless look. The standout feature is the toe area: instead of classic suede, adidas has opted for a rubberised overlay here, which is not only visually striking but also functional, making the shoe more durable – inspired by classic adidas designs and the practical demands of everyday life.

The balance between heritage and innovation runs through the entire sneaker. Whilst the design feels familiar, small adjustments such as changes in material and subtle colour combinations ensure that the shoe doesn’t look like a pure retro.

Thanks to the Cold Cement construction, the Mendocino SPZL remains both robust and comfortable. A classic rubber sole provides grip and perfectly rounds off the look – ideal for everyday wear in the city.
